Kanako Expedition Camp
A Modern Take on a Classic Safari Experience
Opened in 2025, Kanako Tented Camp captures the romance of a traditional wildlife expedition while offering the luxuries and amenities of modern life. Overlooking a spectacular calcrete pan typical of the Kalahari, the camp boasts views that are hard to match and sunsets that will take your breath away.
The pan and its waterhole provide an incredible game-viewing experience, you hardly need to leave camp to spot wildlife such as rhino, giraffe, and the occasional lion or elephant wandering down for an evening drink.

Dining & Atmosphere
Dinner in our boma, with its distinctive red Kalahari sand floor and situated right on the edge of the pan, is an experience you’ll never forget. Soft, minimal lighting allows the night sky to shine in all its splendour; few places on earth offer such a dazzling view of the Milky Way.
A roaring campfire and the aromas of your meal being prepared over the flames create an authentic sense of wilderness living. For cooler or windy evenings, a beautifully appointed dining room overlooking the pan provides a warm and elegant alternative.

Sustainable Comfort
Kanako is completely off-grid, with solar energy providing all electricity for your comfort and convenience. The camp carefully manages its environmental footprint, even wastewater is treated and filtered before being returned to the ground, ensuring the Kalahari ecosystem remains pristine.
The tented camp is securely fenced, allowing you to experience the wild in safety and peace of mind.
