WHAT IS THE BEST MONTH FOR A SAFARI IN THE KALAHARI?
A common question we receive is, “What is the best month for a safari in the Kalahari?” At !Khamab, the answer is any time you wish to travel. Our malaria-free reserve Kalahari offers incredible and distinct experiences year-round.
- Summer (November – April): This is our “green season.” A dramatic time of spectacular thunderstorms, lush landscapes, and an abundance of newborn animals.
- Winter (May – October): Known as the dry season, this period is characterised by crisp, cool air, golden grasses, and more concentrated wildlife around waterholes, often offering fantastic photographic light.

Your All-Inclusive African Vacation Package
Your safari at !Khamab is an all-inclusive experience designed for total immersion and relaxation. Your stay includes accommodation, all meals and selected beverages, private safari activities (game drives and walks), and all conservation levies. A typical day is completely flexible, but might start with an early game drive, followed by brunch at the lodge, an afternoon at leisure by the pool or in the hide, and an evening drive culminating in sundowners and dinner under the stars.
What to Pack
Packing for the Kalahari means preparing for warm days and cool nights. We recommend comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, green, and brown).

- A warm jacket, fleece, or pullover for cool evenings and early morning drives.

Yes, absolutely. All three camps are fenced for safety, and we welcome families. Ourguides can tailor activities to be engaging for all ages. Your safari in the Kalahari can be one of the most rewarding family holidays.
The closest commercial airport is Kimberley Airport (KIM), from where you can arrange road transfers from the airport to the reserve, or rent a car and drive yourself, exploring this remote part of South African.
Or alternatively you can opt for a private charter flight directly from Johannesburg or Cape Town to the reserve.
While a 4×4 is not essential, a high-clearance vehicle (such as an SUV) is strongly recommended for the final stretch of gravel road leading to the reserve entrance. Please contact us for detailed directions.
Yes, your stay is all-inclusive of our selection of local beers, spirits, soft drinks, and house wines. Premium or imported liquors and wines are available at an additional cost.
We have satellite Wi-Fi available in the communal areas of each of the camps for your convenience. However, due to our remote location and having to rely on external service providers, it can be intermittent. There is generally only limited cell phone signal on the reserve, offering a wonderful opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature.
To fully experience the vastness of the Kalahari and settle into its unhurried rhythm, we recommend a minimum stay of four nights. This allows ample time for multiple game drives, walks, and relaxing at the lodge or hide.
